Local authorities have confirmed that a possible human leg bone was discovered just down the shore from Taylor Swift’s beachfront home in Watch Hill, an affluent coastal enclave in the town of Westerly, Rhode Island.
On Wednesday morning, officers with the Westerly Police Department responded to a report of apparent human remains found along the shoreline near Everett Avenue, less than half a mile away from the Grammy Award-winning singer’s 11,000-square-foot mansion.
“Upon arrival, officers located what appeared to be a human leg bone,” police chief Paul J. Gingerella told The Epoch Times via email on Friday.
Gingerella said the remains were collected and transferred to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office for further analysis.
“The case remains under investigation,” he said. “Currently, no foul play is suspected. Investigators are awaiting official confirmation of the identity of the remains.”
Speaking to local news outlet WJAR, Taylor Day, a resident of Westerly, said she happened to drive by the beach just as authorities arrived on the scene.
“It kind of alarmed me, and it was just something very out of the ordinary for Westerly.
“I would never expect anything like that—especially not in Watch Hill.”
However, Gingerella said the possible human leg bone found in Watch Hill “is not linked to any rumors.”
A representative for Swift did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The pop star purchased her $17 million Colonial-style residence in Watch Hill in 2013.
The historic property, known as High Watch, sits on five acres atop a bluff overlooking East Beach and the Atlantic Ocean.
