While everyone pretty much knew that Final Destination Bloodlines would do big things at the box office this year, no one expected it to go on to set a franchise record as the highest-grossing film in the series. Now, after raking in more than $257 million dollars, the horror hit is coming home to digital next week, with a Blu-ray release not far behind.
Per Bloody Disgusting, Final Destination Bloodlines will hit all VOD platforms in North America on June 17, and is already available to pre-order on outlets such as Amazon, where you can snag a digital copy for $24.99. Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, the sixth film in the franchise hit theaters on May 16, and would go on to earn $51.6 million in its opening weekend, which was the biggest debut ever for a Final Destination movie. Not only is it the largest money-maker in the series, but it’s also the one critics loved most, as it currently boasts a Certified Fresh score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The nearly 14-year absence of Death made hearts grow fonder for ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ at the box office.
Starring Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Brec Bassinger, the late Tony Todd, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, and Anna Lore, Final Destination Bloodlines features Juana as a college student who inherits her grandmother’s premonition that averted a deadly catastrophe in 1968. ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Comes to 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD Next Month

While it’s too early to tell if there will be another installment in the Final Destination series, all signs point to yes after the incredible box office performance of Bloodlines. However, don’t expect one any time soon, at least not from Stein or Lipovsky, as the pair recently sat down to discuss the future of the franchise, with Stein saying that they’re creatively tapped out at the moment:
“Death’s work is never done. There’s always more scores to settle. We’ve spent the last three years putting all our best ideas into this movie. We had such a great time with Jon Watts, Craig [Perry, producer], and Sheila [Hanahan Taylor, producer], the producers and the writers, brainstorming all the deliciously fun ways to kill people that we could think of. So, we don’t have lots of new, fresh ideas for the next chapter right now.”
As we await to see what the future holds for the Final Destination franchise, you can check out Bloodlines when it hits digital next week, and physical media on July 22. The previous five films in the series are streaming now on Max.
