A ROCK band have been forced to cancel a UK show at the last minute – just hours before taking to the stage.
Irish rock band Somebody’s Child have cancelled their gig in Manchester tonight.
Singer Cian Godfrey is struggling with illness and needs to rest his voice.
A statement was shared on the venue’s social media on Tuesday afternoon, just hours before the group were due to take to the stage.
The statement, issued by the band read: “We’re heartbroken to say we have to postpone tonight’s show at New Century in Manchester.
“Cian has been struggling with illness and needs to rest his voice so he can recover properly.”

They went on: “Manchester is one of our favourite places to play, and we were so excited for tonight.
“We know how disappointing this is, especially for those who’ve travelled or made plans to be there.
“We’re truly sorry for letting anyone down – this decision has not been taken lightly.”
The band continued: “We’re hoping that taking this short break will give Cian the time he needs to recover and allow us to play our next four UK shows in London, Leeds, Newcastle and Liverpool as planned.
“We’re already working hard to rearrange the Manchester show and hope to have new date in December.
“Tickets will remain valid for the rearranged date, and refunds will be available if you can no longer make it.
“We can’t wait to be back in Manchester with you very soon and give you the show you deserve.”
The venue added that tickets would remain valid for the new date.
Underneath the original announcement post on the band’s Instagram, one person penned: “Damn. i came all the way from brazil for this concert and it gets cancelled. call me lucky.”
Another said: “Tbh he did mention this at Glasgow’s gig, speedy recovery.”
While a third wrote: “Get well soon Cian… listen to some of your favourite soothing music!!”
And a fourth said: “Get well soon Cian. Tough decision but the right one…”
Led by frontman Cian Godfrey, the Dublin-based band have built a reputation for electric live performances over the course of their career.
