National Rifle Association Sues Its Own Nonprofit Arm

The National Rifle Association (NRA) is suing its own nonprofit arm. The suit alleges the foundation is being used by disgruntled former board members attempting to take control of the NRA.

The lawsuit, filed in the D.C. District Court, accuses foundation leadership of trademark infringement, unfair competition, trademark dilution, and unauthorized diversion of charitable assets, among other charges.

The foundation was formed in 1990 to fund the gun rights organization’s educational and charitable work.
