
WHEN it comes to starring in some iconic 90s movies, this movie star is at the top of her game.
However, this actress, now 67, went onto star in a HUGE noughties TV show as well – but can you guess who she is?
The actress in question is Margaret Colin, who has enjoyed an incredible career as a movie star.
However, some fans these days may recognise her for playing Blair Waldorf’s mom Eleanor in Gossip Girl.
But before her days on The CW teen show, Margaret was hot property when it came to 90s movies.
The actress is probably best known for starring alongside Will Smith and Bill Pullman in in 1996’s film, Independence Day.
This week Margaret was spotted looking unrecognizable as she wrapped up against the freezing temperatures in New York.
The star kept herself warm in the snowy Big Apple with a big black coast and red fur hat.
As she stepped out onto the icy sidewalk she wrapped up in a gray scarf and wore sturdy black boots.
BECOMING A STAR
Aged just 22, Margaret set her sights on being an actress and her big break out role on TV was when she appeared on the soap opera, As The World Turns in the early 80s.
This helped her launch into the movies, and saw her star opposite Molly Ringwald in the teen 1986 film, Pretty in Pink.
After this she landed the role of Irene in the Melanie Griffith movie Something Wild.
In 1988 she starred in Three Men and a Baby, opposite Tom Selleck and Ted Danson.
In the early 90s she worked with Demi Moore in the film The Butcher’s Wife.
After starring in Independence Day, she landed a role alongside Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford in The Devil’s Own in 1997.
GOSSIP GIRL FAME
Margaret made the switch back to TV in the mid-noughties, and it was a very good move.
In 2006, she landed the role of Eleanor in Gossip Girl, which went onto become one of the biggest shows of that decade.
Margaret starred alongside Leighton Meester, who played aher on-screen daughter, Blair, and Blake Lively, who took the lead tole of Serena van der Woodsen.
Gossip Girl, which focused on the lives of a group of spoilt teens growing up on New York’s Upper East Side, was a massive success and ran for six seasons.
Margaret’s character Eleanor, who was a characteristic and wealthy fashion designer, appeared in every season before the show came to an end in 2012.
Reflecting on the role warmly, the actress previously told the Hollywood The Write Way: “My favorite quality about her is that she sees the world from her own unique perspective,’ she told Hollywood The Write Way.
“She’s self-centered so I can’t wait to fully grasp the opportunities that are left for her.
“She is the star of her own world and that’s my favorite quality about her.”
Margaret also had a lot of sweet things to say about working with her on-screen daughter.
“I just love working with Leighton (Meester). She is a brilliant singer and her acting is fantastic,” she raved.
“I completely adore working with her. If I could just keep working with her, that would be fine.”
Away from her career as an actress, Margaret is happily married to her actor husband Justin Deas.
The pair met in hen he played her love interest, Tom Hughes, in the soap, As the World Turns.
The happy couple wed in 1988, and since that time have welcomed two sons, Sam and Joe.
