From a new crime thriller based on a bestselling book series to a historical romance, a new comedy, and that incredible medical drama your friends keep recommending, these shows have something for every TV fan. So, now there’s one choice left to make: which one will you watch first?
‘Paradise’ (2025-)
Currently trending at #2 on Disney+, Paradise Season 1 premiered in January 2025, and Season 2 is currently streaming. The first episode has a massive twist that most have probably at least heard about by now. You won’t want to miss out on this fascinating and fun series. Both seasons follow Xavier (Sterling K. Brown) and his family as they look at what life is like after a horrifying event.
Since the first season only has eight episodes, you can get through it fast, and then you can dive into the second season’s story about family, love, friendship, politics, happiness, science, and beliefs. There’s nothing better than an entertaining TV show that also makes you reflect on the world around you. (But, hopefully, none of us will experience what Xavier and the other characters do.)
‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ (2026-)
Yes, this is the prequel to that show no one could stop discussing a few years ago (and that show whose final season and series finale made some people pretty frustrated). Game of Thrones fans can’t miss A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is #2 on HBO Max and is adapted from the George R.R. Martin novellas, Tales of Dunk and Egg. As the name of the novellas suggests, the series follows Egg, or Prince Aegon Targaryen (Dexter Sol Ansell), and Dunk (Peter Claffey).
Since Season 1 is only six episodes, it’s made for a weekend with nothing to do but rest, relax, and forget about that stressful week that just passed. Fans love the character development on AKOTSK, which is one major reason to tune in. And the best news, besides the fact that you get to spend more time in the Game of Thrones universe? HBO renewed it for Season 2, so more action is on the way.
‘Scarpetta’ (2026)
Adapted from Patricia Cornwell’s book series (which has 29 engaging novels), Scarpetta is currently #1 on Amazon Prime Video. The eight-episode first season arrived on Prime on March 11, 2026, and follows Dr. Kay Scarpetta (Nicole Kidman), Virginia’s chief medical examiner, who is working on a case that began in 1998. While flashbacks might not always work, they’re pretty powerful here, sharing how this case changed Kay’s life and why it’s so tough for her to deal with it again now.
Scarpetta has an impressive cast, including Simon Baker, Bobby Cannavale, Ariana DeBose, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Doesn’t a weekend spent watching Kidman solve a crime and seeing Curtis as her memorable sister Dorothy sound perfect? Like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Scarpetta was already renewed for a second season, so this isn’t the last that you’ll see of Kay.
‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ (2023-)
The #1 show on AppleTV right now is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and sci-fi and Godzilla fans won’t want to waste any time before jumping in. The story follows two timelines in the MonsterVerse and has compelling characters like Lee Shaw (Wyatt and Kurt Russell) and half-siblings Kentaro (Ren Watabe) and Cate (Anna Sawai).
You can watch Season 1’s 10 episodes this weekend and then catch up on the first few episodes of Season 2, which is currently streaming weekly. Episode 3, “Secrets,” streams on Mar. 13, 2026. Whether you’ve seen every movie in the Godzilla franchise or only a few, Monarch is still going to entertain you this weekend. It combines a moving family story with the excitement of seeing Titans.
‘Rooster’ (2026-)
A new comedy starring Steve Carell is always going to be a big draw. Fans of The Office, the underrated Netflix series The Four Seasons, and his long list of funny movies should race to the couch and watch the first episode of Rooster, the sitcom that is currently #3 on HBO Max.
Since Episode 1 premiered on Mar. 8, 2026, you can watch it fast and then catch up on another series from this list in the same evening. Rooster has it all: an idyllic college campus setting, tough family dynamics, and characters who are unsure of what comes next. In the first episode, author Greg Russo (Carell) visits his daughter Katie (Charly Clive) at Ludlow College when he gives a reading. While Carell is good, the best performance is from Danielle Deadwyler, who plays a professor named Dylan Shepard. The two characters have a sweet, relatable, and interesting conversation about dating, careers, and confidence, and it’s worth watching for that one scene.
‘Love Story’ (2026)
Ryan Murphy’s shows tend to be pretty wild. While he’s made hits like American Horror Story and underrated gems like Scream Queens, his legal drama All’s Fair was a mess. And, of course, the 9-1-1 franchise is nothing like normal procedurals, which can be a good and a bad thing, depending on the season (or the episode). Well, his latest series, Love Story, is currently trending at #1 on Disney+, and it’s very different from his typical horror fare.
The series stars Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon as John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette​​​​​, and it charts their tragic romance. With only nine episodes, you can get through it this weekend. As is often the case with shows based on true stories, some parts are true, and other elements are depicted differently than real events. However, the spirit of the story remains: JFK and Carolyn really cared about each other. Whether or not it’s completely accurate, Love Story raises interesting questions about fame, celebrity, and politics.
‘The Pitt’ (2025-)
The best show on TV? The greatest medical drama of all time? The show that your friends ask if you’re watching every time you meet for dinner? If you haven’t seen The Pitt, which is currently #1 on HBO Max, try a few episodes this Saturday night, and you’re bound to become as obsessed as everyone else.
Whether showcasing the smart and wonderful nurses who do so much, commenting on the healthcare system, or telling quiet stories about patients and hospital staff, The Pitt Season 2 is just as great as the first one. Both seasons have 15 episodes, and since Season 2 is currently being released weekly on Thursday evenings, you can catch up and then watch the latest episodes. Episodes don’t shy away from topics like measles, death doulas, or health insurance. While Dr. Robby Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) is technically the main character (and you might have seen Wyle on another, very famous hospital show), everyone plays a crucial part in the moving story.
‘One Piece’ (2023-)
One Piece Season 2 began streaming on Netflix on March 10, 2026, and it’s no surprise that it’s already #1 on Netflix. If you’ve seen Season 1, you can jump into the eight-episode second season. If not, why not watch Season 1 this weekend and Season 2 next? If one weekend with no plans (except for lots of TV watching) sounds good, two weekends are even better.
Adapted from the manga series, which came out in 1997, the One Piece live-action adaptation tells a story about Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), who is Captain of the Straw Hats pirates, and other memorable characters such as Buggy the Clown (Jeff Ward) and Nami (Emily Rudd).
