Prince William is maintaining firm boundaries with his estranged brother Prince Harry and is not pushing for a reunion any time soon, a royal insider has said. There has been no communication between the brothers, with the emotional and geographical distance between them remaining unchanged despite years of speculation about reconciliation.
The rift, which dates back to 2016 when William expressed concerns about the speed of Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle, has reportedly been worsened by the couple’s recent commercial tour of Australia.
The Montecito-based royals’ globe-trotting paid appearances, which trade on their royal connections despite no longer being working members of the family, have been described as “intolerable” for the palace.
The insider told Us Weekly that the Sussexes’ quasi-royal activities and relentless media presence continue to create strain, and that William was “not pushing for a reunion” any time soon.. Royal biographer Tom Bower has predicted that William could even strip Harry and Meghan of their titles when he becomes King, describing the situation as damaging to the monarchy.
