Over 45 years after the original Alien movie first hit theaters, Disney delivered a new intergalactic streaming adventure titled Alien: Earth for FX on Hulu. Set in an alternate universe from the main franchise (thus leading to it not being recognized as canon) the series shows humanity’s pursuit of immortality through paths centered on cyborgs (humans with biomechatronic body parts), synthetics (fully artificial beings endowed with intelligence), and hybrids (synthetic bodies containing transferred human consciousness. A deep space research vessel (the USCSS Maginot) then crashes on Earth, as a young hybrid named Wendy and a group of soldiers discover something pitting them against the planet’s biggest threat.
After being renewed for Season 2, Alien: Earth went back into production in Jun. 2026, although story details have not been officially confirmed ahead of the new season’s release. The show is led by Sydney Chandler’s Wendy (the first hybrid and the leader of the “Lost Boys”) and Alex Lawther’s Joe Hermit (Wendy’s human brother and medic for the Prodigy Corporation Security Service), and the cast also includes other major names like Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Essie Davis (The Matrix Revolutions), and Babou Ceesay (Into the Badlands). On top of them, this new season will also include a surprising reunion from one of the 21st century’s biggest hit dramas.
According to a new press release, Jerome Flynn will play an undisclosed role in Season 2 of FX’s Alien: Earth. Flynn is best known for his work in Black Mirror, Ripper Street, and John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum. The release also confirmed Tracey Ullman (Robin Hood: Men in Tights) and Sam Spruell (Fargo) will also join the cast.
Flynn’s casting also sets up an unexpected reunion with Peter Dinklage, who was added to the cast in April (which also set up a unique connection with an unexpected animated movie). Notably, Flynn and Dinklage both played big roles in all eight seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones; Dinklage became world-famous for his role as Tyrion Lannister (68 episodes), while Flynn embodied Lord Bronn (37 episodes).
The two characters even had a close relationship, originally meeting when Bronn gave up his bed at the Crossroads Inn for Tyrion in exchange for gold. This led to Bronn saving Tyrion’s life and becoming his personal bodyguard and enforcer from Season 2 to Season 4. While their roles are being kept under wraps during production for Alien: Earth, many are already hoping to see them interact in new roles far away from the world of Westeros.
Alien: Earth Season 2 is now in production, but it does not have a confirmed release timeframe yet.
