Whereas Machu Picchu could be the top drawcard in Peru, an even greater vision for tourism is emerging in the destination as Peru lures China’s top-end tourists with adventure, culture, cuisine, and extensive travel across Latin America. As reported at ITB China, Bpak Travel has shared its plans targeting wealthy tourists who would invest in a vacation spanning 20-25 days in Peru, or even linking up with other countries like Argentina, Brazil, or Chile. Peru has come out with offerings that extend beyond the Inca fortress, from Lake Titicaca and Colca Canyon to the Nazca Lines and Lima. Travel And Tour World invites you to read the full article.
Peru Inbound Travel Operator Sees Strong Potential in China’s High-End Long-Haul Market
Peru is looking to deepen its appeal among Chinese travellers seeking long-haul adventures, cultural discovery and premium experiences across Latin America. At ITB China, Javier Kinones, executive director of Bpak Travel, spoke about the opportunities he sees in the Chinese market and the diverse experiences that can be built around Peru.
For Bpak Travel, the event provides an opportunity to promote Peru to clients in China and strengthen connections with a market that the company believes offers significant potential for South American tourism.
China emerges as an important market for South America
Kinones described China as a “huge market”, despite the considerable distance between the two destinations. According to him, Chinese travellers are increasingly arriving in South America in search of adventure, nature and Asian culture. He sees this growing interest as an opportunity not only for Peru but for the wider region.

The long journey involved in reaching South America also influences the type of traveller the company is targeting. Rather than focusing primarily on short holidays, Bpak Travel is seeking high-end travellers who are prepared to spend considerably longer travelling through the region.
Machu Picchu remains Peru’s major attraction
For visitors planning a trip, Machu Picchu remains the country’s main highlight, according to Kinones. The ancient Inca city is located near Cusco in the Andes and is one of the destination’s defining cultural attractions. However, the operator stressed that the experience does not end there.
Peru offers a wide range of landscapes and attractions that can add depth to an itinerary. Among those highlighted in the interview were Lake Titicaca in Puno, Colca Canyon in Arequipa and the Nazca Lines near Ica.
These destinations give travellers the chance to experience very different sides of the country, from high-altitude Andean landscapes and dramatic canyons to one of the world’s most famous archaeological mysteries.

Lima adds history, culture and gastronomy
The capital, Lima, is another important part of the tourism proposition. Kinones pointed to the city’s combination of history, culture and gastronomy, highlighting food as one of the country’s major attractions. He described Peruvian gastronomy as being among the world’s most appreciated culinary traditions.
For premium long-haul travellers, this combination can make Lima more than simply an arrival or departure point. It can become an important component of a broader itinerary, particularly for visitors interested in cultural and culinary experiences.
Focus on high-end, long-haul travellers
Bpak Travel’s target audience is clearly positioned towards the higher end of the market. Kinones said the company is targeting travellers willing to take a long trip of around 20 to 25 days. Importantly, these journeys may extend beyond a single destination.
The aim is to encourage visitors to combine Peru with other parts of Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil and Chile. This approach reflects the geographical reality of long-haul travel from China. When travellers commit significant time and resources to reaching South America, a multi-country journey can provide an opportunity to experience several destinations during the same trip.
Peru positioned within a wider Latin American journey
The strategy presented at ITB China places Peru not only as an individual destination but also as a potential gateway to a broader Latin American travel experience. Machu Picchu provides a powerful cultural draw, while Lake Titicaca, Colca Canyon, the Nazca Lines, and Lima create opportunities to diversify the itinerary. Adding other countries can then turn the trip into a more extensive holiday designed around discovery rather than a quick visit.
For Bpak Travel, the Chinese market therefore represents an opportunity to develop high-end Latin America travel around longer stays, multiple destinations and varied experiences.
The message from ITB China is straightforward: Chinese travellers willing to make the long journey to South America may be looking for more than one iconic attraction. Peru’s combination of heritage, nature, culture and gastronomy gives operators like Bpak Travel a foundation on which to build those extended journeys.
