A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Northern California on Thursday morning, about 40 miles west of the community of Petrolia, the US Geological Survey said.
There is a tsunami warning in effect for parts of the California and Oregon coastline, according to the National Tsunami Warning Center.
A message released by the California Office of Emergency Services said that a “tsunami Warning is now in effect which includes the coastal areas of California and Oregon from Davenport, California to Douglas/Lane Line, Oregon.”
