Princess Kate is “teaching Meghan Markle a vital lesson” through their recently-released Christmas cards, it has been claimed.
The Mail’s columnist Amanda Platell has written about the differences between the festive cards sent out by the Waleses and the Sussexes.
She described Prince Harry and Meghan’s card as a “vainglorious display of no fewer than six images”.
Pictures include Meghan hugging a child, Harry holding the hand of a woman in a hospital bed and the couple during their unofficial royal tour to Nigeria.
Its message reads: “On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions and Archewell Foundation, we wish you a very Happy Holiday Season and a Joyful New Year.”
In contrast, the Wales’ card features a family photo of Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in Norfolk.
The photo, taken during the shoot for the video Kate made earlier this year when she revealed she had completed her chemotherapy, shows Kate’s head nestled against Charlotte’s, her arm’s around George, and her hand placed on William’s knee as he cuddles Louis.
The message simply reads: “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year,” with 2024 printed under the photo.”
Comparing the card from the Wales’s to that of the Sussexes, Platell wrote: “What a contrast with the one image the Princess of Wales released for the Wales’s card, a snap taken from the poignant video she made earlier this year with her family in Norfolk when she revealed she had completed her chemotherapy and was ‘doing well’.
“It’s of Kate and William and the kids in their ‘safe place’, their getaway home in Norfolk.
“Kate’s head is nestled against Charlotte’s, her arm’s stretched around George, and her hand tenderly placed on husband William’s knee as he cuddles little Louis. It’s a heart-melting family scene we can all identify with.”
She added: “In many ways it shows the difference between the two sides of the family. As Harry and Meghan’s popularity in the US plummets – and Kate’s soars, even being nominated for Time magazine’s Person of the Year – everything they do is starting to have an air of desperation, of being forced.
“In that one simple picture of our future Queen surrounded by her young family, Kate has taught Meghan a vital lesson: How to be classy at Christmas.”
