Shifting Gears, the upcoming ABC comedy series, has officially added another star to its talented cast. American Pie’sSean William Scott has been signed on for a lead role in the series and is set to join previously announced stars Tim Allen and Kat Dennings. Picked up to series back in July, Shifting Gears is preparing to go into production in November. As per Variety, Allen plays Matt, a seasoned mechanic and a “stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop,” who has a penchant for fixing things, be it cars or people’s problems. Kat Dennings, popular for her role in 2 Broke Girls, stars as his quick-witted but estranged daughter, who returns home with her teenage kids in an attempt to restore their relationship.
Scott joins the cast as Gabriel, a “family friend of Matt & Riley who works in the shop with Matt.”Charming but slightly unpredictable, his character is poised to bring new energy to Matt’s garage. Other confirmed cast members include Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Stitch, Maxwell Simkins as Carter and Barrett Margolis as Georgia. You can check out the official logline for the comedy series below.

The ABC Comedy Is Seann William Scott’s Third Outing as a Series Regular
Welcoming Seann William Scott into the mix gives Shifting Gears an edge as the actor has proven talent and experience in television, having previously starred in two TV shows as a series regular. In the Fox comedy series Welcome to Flatch, he landed the role of Father Joe, a well-meaning but sometimes naive priest who simply wants an easy life in his small town. Scott also starred in Lethal Weapon, playing Wesley Cole, an ex-CIA operative turned LAPD detective. His character was introduced in the third season as a replacement to Clayne Crawford’s character after the latter was fired from the show, with the series ultimately being canceled.
