Anti-ICE Protesters Clash With Police in NYC

A protest erupted over possible ICE activity in Chinatown in New York. Police responded to a call about a disorderly group in the area around noon Saturday. The NYPD said in a statement that officers “observed multiple people blocking the street and were told multiple times to disperse but they did not comply.”

Federal agents were also present at the scene, though it wasn’t clear whether they were with ICE.

Video captured showed protesters yelling obscenities and throwing objects, including metal barricades, at law enforcement officers. There are also reports of protesters and members of the press being pepper sprayed.

Saturday’s clash follows recent ICE raids on street vendors in Chinatown. A number of illegal immigrants have been taken into custody during those operations.
