Antigua
REMOTE

The wait has ended REMOTE Immersion Antigua is ready to unite an inspiring community of travel professionals, entrepreneurs, and visionaries in the vibrant heart of Guatemala. From May nineteenth to twenty-second, the historic UNESCO World Heritage city of Antigua will host the eighth edition of REMOTE’s flagship event. This gathering brings together two hundred fifteen carefully selected participants dedicated to advancing responsible tourism across Latin America and the Caribbean.

This premier 2025 event features eighty-five outstanding lodgings and destination management companies from fifteen Latin American countries. Alongside them are eighty-six travel designers representing fifteen global markets including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. United by expertise, curiosity, and a shared commitment to impactful tourism, attendees will participate in up to fifty-one carefully planned meetings during three mornings designed to foster meaningful connection and collaboration.

REMOTE Immersion follows a distinctive format crafted to build genuine relationships. Mornings are devoted to structured business meetings, while afternoons provide immersive experiences throughout the destination. Evenings come alive with inspiring talks, valuable content sessions, and informal social gatherings. This engaging rhythm encourages networking far beyond scheduled events, cultivating lasting bonds grounded in common values and purpose.

Humans and Technology Uniting for Tourism Innovation

The REMOTE Talks & Seeds series, scheduled just before dinner, explores the theme Humans and Technology Uniting for Tourism Innovation. Through keynote presentations, case studies, and interactive panels, participants will discuss how technology can enhance storytelling, streamline operations, and elevate guest experiences while preserving the essential human connections that define authentic tourism. This conversation highlights the powerful synergy possible when innovation complements the personal touch.

Sustainability Takes Center Stage in Antigua

REMOTE’s Antigua event places a strong emphasis on local engagement and responsible practices. The REMOTE Sustainability Strategy, developed in collaboration with the NGO Regenera and guided by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) standards along with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, has been thoughtfully adapted to Antigua’s unique context.

In partnership with eleven local host hotels, the official destination management company Viaventure Central America, and the REMOTE team, the event prioritizes reducing its environmental footprint while maximizing positive social impact. Key initiatives include offsetting seventy tons of CO₂ through the Estufas Chispa project, which supports clean cookstove installation for fourteen rural families in Guatemala. Efforts also focus on reducing single-use plastics and waste across event operations, promoting water and energy conservation at partner venues, and celebrating Guatemalan culture through cuisine, art, and immersive storytelling. Additionally, carefully designed low-impact experiences with local providers highlight the destination’s natural beauty and cultural identity. These actions aim to inspire participants to engage in more conscious, immersive, and respectful tourism.

Creating a Lasting REMOTE Legacy for the Community

On May twenty-first, REMOTE will present the sixth edition of REMOTE Legacy, a free Spanish-language event co-created with CAMTUR, Guatemala’s Tourism Chamber. Under the theme Embracing Synergy in Tourism, the event invites community members, students, and tourism professionals to join a morning of inspiring talks from guides, consultants, and archaeologists representing Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the United States. REMOTE Legacy welcomes all local participants with a passion for tourism.
