Law enforcement agencies across North Texas are searching for Trevor McEuen, a murder suspect who failed to appear in court Monday after removing his ankle monitor and fleeing his residence, according to the Kaufman County and Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Offices.
Authorities have not confirmed whether McEuen fled on foot or by vehicle, nor have they released a description of his clothing or said if he is armed, according to the district attorney.
The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to McEuen’s arrest.
After a thorough search, authorities stated, “We do not believe there is a danger to the public and it is believed that he has left the area,” according to the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office.
“Our number one priority is the safety of all citizens of Van Zandt County. We are working diligently with our partner agencies to ensure the safety of all our citizens,” Sheriff Bridger said.
McEuen is charged in the 2023 shooting death of Aaron Martinez, who had moved to Forney to open a horse training ranch, according to local news reports.
McEuen was initially arrested in May 2023 and held on a $2 million bond before being released after a bond reduction hearing. He was indicted for capital murder in November 2023, arrested again, and later released on a $1 million bond in September 2024 with strict conditions, including no contact with Martinez’s relatives, according to local media.
“We are continuing to monitor developments from law enforcement. I will say that our client has always maintained his innocence. We hope for a peaceful resolution in this matter,” McEuen’s lead defense attorney Jose Noriega told CBS News Texas.
Noriega didn’t immediately return a request for comment from NTD News.
Anyone with information about McEuen’s whereabouts is urged to contact authorities immediately, according to the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, and Kaufman County Criminal District Attorney.
