Daughters of political prisoners are speaking out against the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of their families.
Rep. John Moolenaar (R-Mich.) is chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party. He introduced Grace Drexel, who explained how her father, Pastor Ezra Jin, was detained for his Christian ministry. Her father and 17 others in his church remain imprisoned.
Claire Lai is the daughter of imprisoned Hong Kong publisher Jimmy Lai, who was just handed a 20-year sentence for what human rights activists are calling a “direct attack on press freedom.”
She calls her father’s imprisonment a “death sentence.”
Claire described the harsh punishment her father endures in solitary confinement.
