The European Commission is targeting $84 billion worth of American goods if trade negotiations with the United States break down.
The move comes in response to President Trump’s warning that a 30% tariff on EU imports will take effect on August 1 unless a new trade deal is reached. European officials have called the tariff threat “unacceptable” and say it would end normal trade between the two economic powers.
