A person who bought a winning £1million lottery ticket has failed to come forward and collect their prize. The winning EuroMillions ticket was purchased in Wiltshire last December but the 180-day period to claim has now passed.
The National Lottery said the UK Millionaire Maker ticket was bought on December 27 last year. However, the deadline for the winner to come forward was Wednesday (June 25) and the money has now been given to the National Lottery Good Causes. The fortune will be used to fund projects across Wiltshire, such as the Broham Community Hub and Dorothy House Hospice.
Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: “I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money.
“However, the money will now go to Good Causes and add to the more than £30million raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects – amazing projects like Alzheimer’s Support, Wilton Riding for the Disabled, Broham Community Hub and Dorothy House Hospice, all of which are in Wiltshire and have helped make the county a better place to live for everyone.”
According to Metro, the unclaimed ticket had a code of XDQM36414. Digital ticket holders are frequently reminded to check their account so are more likely to claim winnings than those with paper ones.
The National Lottery said six big prizes are also waiting to be claimed – four with EuroMillions and two with Lotto. They include five £1 million prizes and one £107,000 prize.
Last week, a lucky winner came forward to claim a staggering £208 million prize on the EuroMillions. The ticket was bought in County Cork, Ireland, and was the country’s 18th and biggest ever jackpot.
Irish National Lottery CEO Cian Murphy urged the winner to “stay calm” amid the shock of the “massive” win. According to Allwyn, the jackpot was the largest prize awarded in the UK if won by a single ticket-holder.
Irish National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have heard from our EuroMillions winner.
“At this point, our priority is to give them the necessary time and space to make arrangements and let this life-changing news sink in.”
