Friday racing tips
- UTTOXETER
1.30: Heros De Romay 3/1 (1pt) - ASCOT
1.20: Belliano 6/5 (2pts)
1.55: Iberico Lord 6/5 (2pts)
Heros De Romay
Went quite well on chase debut to finish fourth behind some experienced chasers and better rated horses.
He’s not won since November 2023 but has been lightly raced since but you just get the impression he’s got more to offer and with that run for the first time in 309 days out the way he can build on that nicely.
He is carrying top-weight but was carrying close to top-weight last time out and still went well on soft, encouraging.
Belliano
Belliano is a great price for this after he placed a decent second on hurdle debut behind The New Lion.
That form has been franked extremely well as he went on to win again, comfortably, at Newbury earning a rating of 136 already.
His closest competitor is Block Rockin Beats according to the betting and he’s only been seen in points and bumpers so far.
Belliano has the hurdle experience to build on and the form boosted so is the sensible betting option here.
Iberico Lord
This four runner Howden Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase may be a small field, but it’s an intriguing match-up with Iberico Lord the clear favourite.
He’s only been seen once over fences but that was an encouraging start beating three rivals again at Kempton that time, winning comfortably, albeit as two other rivals did pull up.
The six-year-old has won twice in Grade 3’s over hurdles though, including ahead of L’Eau du Sud and Lookaway at Newbury and Cheltenham respectively.
That should put him well ahead of the rest of the field.
As Western Zephyr was last seen at Cheltenham placing second behind the grey and is much more exposed over fences, though he has improved greatly this season, going up 13lb in total in two races.
Ryan’s Rocket is much lower in the weights due to his rating and could easily be an improver over fences, as he won on chase debut in November.
But Iberico Lord was all class last time out and is also looking like he can be a big improver over fences, with his quality already confirmed from his hurdles.
