The Department of Housing and Urban Development is giving local housing authorities 30 days to verify U.S. citizenship or legal immigration status for Section 8 recipients and residents in federally funded housing.
Housing Secretary Scott Turner emphasized that illegal immigrants can no longer leave citizenship boxes blank or take advantage of federally funded housing.
