Several years later, the first official trailer for Ironheart has finally been released, and it’s safe to say that the Iron Man legacy lives on. The Disney+ series stars Dominque Thorne as Riri Williams, reprising her role from Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The six-episode production has been sealed behind closed doors since 2022, but Marvel Studios has decided it’s finally time to let the world meet its latest superhero (and possible Avenger).
Now under the Marvel Television banner, Ironheart will premiere its first three episodes on Jun. 24 on Disney +. The show follows Riri Williams after the events of Wakanda Forever, studying at MIT and trying to forge her own path as the next successor to the Iron Man mantle. Alongside Thorne as Riri is Anthony Ramos as Parker Robbins, aka the Hood, a villain whose magical powers are juxtaposed against the genius-level intellect of Ironheart. The series also stars Alden Ehrenreich, Manny Montana, Lyric Ross, Regan Aliyah, Matthew Elam, and Anji White. You can check out the trailer below.

The series will be modeled more on 30-minute comedies than a traditional superhero series.
It’s been a long road for Ironheart, to say the least. The limited series wrapped production in late 2022, and its release on Disney+ had subsequently stalled until this year. Of course, a number of different factors led to this, including the substantial post-production of the VFX-heavy show. Ironheart is also one of the last projects before Marvel Studios decided to reshape its television lineup, starting with Daredevil: Born Again. The company is no longer in the business of creating six-episode event shows, meaning Ironheart is likely the last time we’ll see a project of this scale and length.
Fortunately, Ironheart has a talented creative team behind the wheel. Coogler, who is hard at work on Black Panther 3, serves as an executive producer on the Disney+ show. Meanwhile, Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiecer) is the head writer, while Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes serve as directors for all six episodes. Check out the official plot synopsis for Ironheart here:
“Set after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Marvel Television’s “Ironheart” pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka “The Hood” (Anthony Ramos).”
