Morrisons has made a major change at its stores which it says will help customers and farmers. The supermarket has slashed the prices of its Christmas dinner veg, making sure that Brits can enjoy festive trimmings “at cut prices, not portions”. More Card holders can pick up their favourite scran for less – including British Carrots (1kg), British Parsnips (500g), British Brussel Sprouts (500g) and British Whole Swede for just 5p each between December 18 and 26.
In addition, all shoppers can bag Morrisons British Best Roasting Potatoes (1.5kg) for better than half-price right now, costing £1 until Boxing Day. The offer has been developed in close collaboration with UK farmers, bosses said, “ensuring that seasonal savings are delivered without compromising the price paid to producers”. The supermarket added: “By protecting farmgate prices while reducing the cost for customers, Morrisons reaffirms its commitment to providing exceptional value during the Christmas period, alongside its dedication to quality, fairness and strong partnerships with British farmers and suppliers.”
Fraser Lovatt, Market Street Director at Morrisons, said: “We work directly with British farmers and growers all year round to bring our customers the freshest, highest-quality British produce.
“From sprouts to spuds, seasonal veg are at the heart of the Christmas dinner plate and we’re proud to help our customers enjoy them for less, while continuing to champion and support the British farmers who grow them.”

But surveying suggests that some Brits will give the traditional roast a miss on the big day.
Papa Johns cited research including a sample of 2,000 participants, which found that Gen Z are “rewriting Christmas food rules entirely”, with only 49% of 18 to 24-year-olds planning a roast this year.
Millennials are not far behind, the pizza chain added, with 40% of 25 to 34-year-olds opting for “party platters” instead, versus 23% nationally.
