Philadelphia

The Wawa Welcome America Festival is set to make history in 2026, celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary in the very place where American independence was born—Philadelphia. This monumental 16-day festival, running from June 19 to July 4, will be filled with historic events, cultural celebrations, fireworks, and fan-favorite traditions, all designed to honor the country’s past while looking toward the future. From parades to performances, from fireworks to family fun, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience for locals and visitors alike.

A Historic Salute: The Semiquincentennial Parade

On July 3, 2026, the Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade will take center stage as the largest professionally produced Semiquincentennial celebration parade in the nation. The parade will feature 250 elements, representing all 50 U.S. states and territories, and will include 52 Miss America state and territory titleholders, each bringing thematic elements that reflect their home states. The parade will also showcase 50 marching bands, 13 floats, military elements, special units, historical representations, and international groups from around the world.

This year’s parade will follow an expanded route, beginning at 5th and Chestnut Streets, passing by Independence Hall (where the nation’s independence was declared 250 years ago), and continuing down Market Street, circling City Hall, traveling along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and around Logan Circle, before concluding at Broad and Chestnut Streets. It promises to be a visual feast and a moving tribute to America’s journey from the very streets where it all began.

Six Nights of Fireworks: A Dazzling Display

For the first time in festival history, Wawa Welcome America will offer six nights of fireworks, lighting up Philadelphia’s summer skies and adding extra sparkle to the city’s birthday celebration. The fireworks will take place on:

  • June 20-21: A new event to be announced soon
  • June 25: Celebration of Black Music Month
  • June 26: Kidchella Music Festival
  • June 27: Waterfront Concert

Each night will offer something special, from music festivals to community-centered events, all building up to the grand finale on July 4, when a stunning fireworks display will light up the Philadelphia skyline in the birthplace of American freedom.
