A new poll is shaking up California’s gubernatorial race, showing two Republicans leading in a deeply blue state. According to a UC Berkeley survey, conservative commentator Steve Hilton leads with 17 percent, followed by Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco at 16 percent.
The state hasn’t elected a Republican governor since Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006. But voters appear to be focused less on party affiliation and more on the issues. Four in ten say the cost of living is their top concern, along with housing, gas prices, and government spending.
