Sainsbury’s hands out 8,000 free Nectar points with 24-month guarantee | UK | News

Brits looking to cut household costs and boost their Nectar balance are in luck – Sainsbury’s  is offering thousands of bonus loyalty points to anyone who switches their gas or electricity to its new Energy Track and Reward tariff. Shoppers could bag up to 8,000 free Nectar points by switching to a new energy tariff from Sainsbury’s Energy and enjoy a two-year price guarantee that ensures bills won’t exceed the Ofgem price cap.

Under the Track and Reward tariff, customers can receive up to 6,000 bonus Nectar points a year, awarded 1,500 points per quarter, by staying on the tariff. On top of that, new and existing Sainsbury’s Energy customers who sign up for a 24-month fixed deal will earn 4,000 points per fuel – up to 8,000 Nectar points for dual-fuel households.

Shoppers on the tariff will also enjoy double or triple Nectar points every time they shop in Sainsbury’s stores, meaning regular customers could see their rewards balance grow even faster.

Sainsbury’s Energy says customers will “never pay more than the price cap”, regardless of how energy markets move, and that there are no exit fees for leaving the tariff.

A spokesperson for the company said: “You could receive up to 6,000 bonus Nectar points every year, plus double or triple Nectar points on your shopping.

“And when you make the switch to the Sainsbury’s Energy Track & Reward tariff, you’re guaranteed to never pay more than the price cap.”

To get the offer, you’ll need a residential gas or electricity account with Sainsbury’s Energy. Your energy bill is worked out using a daily standing charge multiplied by the number of days in your billing period, plus the unit rate for the amount of energy you use. Any discounts are then taken off, and VAT is added.

You’ll receive your Nectar points once your energy supply has started and your account is active. Make sure you provide your Nectar card number when you sign up — if you forget, or enter the wrong details, your points could be delayed. It can take up to 30 days from your supply start date for the points to appear in your account.
