Samuel L. Jackson Recites Pulp Fiction Monologue ‘Ezekiel 25:17’ to Celebrate 30th Anniversary

Beloved Hollywood icon Samuel L. Jackson proves he’s still got it as the 75-year-old actor takes to X/Twitter to regale fans with one of his most famous cinematic speeches. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of director Quentin Tarantino’s crime caper masterpiece Pulp Fiction, Jackson resurrected his character, the contemplative hitman Jules Winnfield, to deliver his famous “Ezekiel 25:17” speech once again after all these years.

Captioning the post, “YOU KNOW I STILL GOT IT!!! EZEKIEL 25:17 HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF PULP FICTION,” Jackson effortlessly reels off the unforgettable dialogue, injecting the final threat of vengeance with the intensity the actor has become known for. No doubt the brief clip will have you eager to watch Pulp Fiction all over again and join in with the festivities. You can familiarize yourself with “Ezekiel 25:17” and watch Jackson’s recreation below.

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.”

Pulp Fiction Remains a Crime Caper Masterpiece

The bible passage (which Tarantino reworked for the movie) quickly becomes one of Jules’ trademarks, with the way he delivers this final warning to his victims changing as the movie progresses and reflecting the hitman’s evolving perspective. While “Ezekiel 25:17” begins as “some cold-blooded s*it” that Jules says before he kills someone, by the end, it comes to mirror the character’s journey in the film, and ultimately helps him in his decision to leave the criminal world behind. For fans of the actor and the movie, it’s a real treat to hear Jackson deliver the speech again after so many decades.

Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and featuring an all-star cast that includes John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman, Pulp Fiction tells several intersecting stories in non-linear fashion about an unforgettable cast of characters— including a pair of low-rent hit men (Travolta and Jackson), a gangster’s wife (Thurman), and a desperate prize-fighter (Willis).
