The record was inspired by her breakup from British actor Joe Alwyn.

The album clocked up 300 million plays in one day on Spotify and a staggering one billion in five days.
It also made Swift the first artist in history to hold the top 14 spots on the Billboard Hot 100.
In February 2025, she broke Madonna’s record for the most UK number-one albums, achieving her 13th chart-topper with a live album release of her hit album Lover ( Live From Paris )
In comparison, Madonna has had 12 UK chart topping albums — her most recent being 2012’s MDNA.
Taylor has also matched Elvis Presley who also 13 UK No 1 albums to his name.
Only Robbie Williams and The Beatles are ahead of her with 15 UK chart-topping albums.
Madonna, who is famously competitive when it comes to her music, is currently working on her 15th studio album.
The record, which was delayed after she was hospitalised in 2024, is her first since 2019’s Madame X.
While both artists are driven to be at the top, they are actually supporters of one another.
Madonna previously invited Taylor on stage at the 2015 iHeartRadio Awards to perform her Rebel Heart track Ghosttown.
Taylor’s upcoming record The Life of a Showgirl has 12 tracks
One track, Father Figure, is interpolation of George Michael’s 1987 song Father Figure.
She says the record is the pop album she’s always wanted to make.
