U.S. President Donald Trump on July 30 imposed an additional 40 percent tariff on imports from Brazil, taking total U.S. tariffs on Brazillian imports to 50 percent. He also sanctioned Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre De Moraes, citing an alleged “witch-hunt” against former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
Trump said on Aug. 1 that Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva can call him anytime to discuss tariffs and the other friction between their two countries.
