Trump Says Could Have Answers in Nancy Guthrie Case ‘Very Soon’

President Donald Trump on Friday said there could be answers in the disappearance of the mother of television journalist Savannah Guthrie “very soon.”

Earlier today, Attorney General Pam Bondi said the federal government was working with local authorities to find Nancy Guthrie, the kidnapped elderly mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie.

Investigators in Arizona on Thursday presume Nancy Guthrie is “still out there” and alive days after she was abducted from her home, though no suspect has been identified.

“I’ll give you a little statement. I think we’re doing very well on that regard. You’re probably surprised to hear that. I think we’re doing very well. Very well, meaning we have some clues, I think, that are very strong and I think we could have some answers coming up fairly soon,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One.

“I’m not talking about a search. I’m talking about a solution. We have some things I think that will maybe come out reasonably soon from DOJ or FBI or whoever that could be that could be a…(Reporter off-camera saying: “A suspect?”) … yeah, could be definitive….A lot’s taken place in the last couple of hours. A lot of, a lot of things have happened with regard to that horrible situation the last couple of hours.”

Police and FBI officials said they had intensified their search for Nancy Guthrie, 84, calling in extra personnel and special forensic analysts, even as the first of two deadlines set in a ransom note came and went early Thursday evening.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on Jan. 31 when she was dropped off at her residence near Tucson by family members after having dinner with them, and relatives reported her missing around noon the following day, according to authorities.

Because her mobility is extremely limited, she could not have left her home unassisted, leading investigators to conclude early on that she was the victim of a kidnapping.
