Wednesday horse racing tips
- GOODWOOD
1.50: Royal Playwright 5/6 (2pts)
3.00: Rhoscolyn 4/1 (1pt)
3.35: Saddadd 6/4 (1pt) - PERTH
4.15: Statuario 2/1 (1pt)
Royal Playwright
Oisin Murphy is on fire at the moment especially with Andrew Balding’s yard.
This horse has consistent efforts in Group and listed company including a respectable enough third last time out at Windsor in a Group 3.
That form has put him ahead of Mister Rizz in the ratings as he’s only been seen once in that kind of class and he placed back in tenth.
That said, he was a close third at Deauville last time out on his first outing since being gelded in what was a very hotly contested listed race.
But this horse is favourite for a reason with solid form just always bumping into very good horses like Wimbledon Hawkeye, Field Of Gold, Persica and a few more recently too.
Rhoscolyn
May not be very consistent in general but this horse goes incredibly well at Goodwood.
He won over course and distance, also on soft ground, just last month and record at Goodwood now stands at 6-16.
While over 1m at Goodwood his form reads – 2701121 including this exact race in each of the last two renewals.
Saddaadd
Really strong performance at Sandown on soft ground too on what was just his fifth race of his career.
Has shown that he’s capable of stepping up to this kind of level now.
His win last time out saw him come from near the back on the straight to eventually pass all off the bridle and continue that sustained effort to the line strongly.
So he’s shaping as though he can progress more for Roger Varian, who’s had a great season.
Statuario
Not the best Class 2 handicap chase at Perth but it’s still very interesting to see how these horses fare against each other.
There are some highly rated horses but each one has a bit to prove for different reasons.
You’ve got the veteran Statuario who can still run incredibly well or may struggle, which isn’t too surprising in these stamina tests.
Whistle Stop Tour and Yeats Star are still looking to improve over fences, especially the latter and may need some more time.
While Mars Harper has been out of form in his last three, but still rated highly, despite having only won over fences twice from 29 attempts.
Statuario looks the most likely here with his consistent form over this distance this season.
