In the Can You Ever Forgive Me? actor’s caption he wrote: “ALWAYS a five [star] pleasure to spend time with my great friend @thecurtisstigers whom I met in 1991 in LA when his first huge hit I WONDER WHY hit the charts.
“Been friends for 34 years, long before our hair went grey!
“He’s playing his final gig THIS WEEK @officialronnies tonight in Soho.”
Jazz star Curtis, 59, then replied to clarify: “Not my final gig ever just my final gig of the week! I’ll be back at Ronnie Scott’s in February!
“Lovely to see you Richard.”
SMOOTH SOUNDS
Curtis is best known for the 1991 song, I Wonder Why.
The track reached number five on the official UK Singles Chart and his first self-titled album reached number seven.
It has also been certified two times Platinum by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry).
A follow-up single titled You’re All That Matters to Me reached number six on the UK charts the following year in 1992.
NEXT STEPS
He is currently touring across the US and UK.
Curtis will return to these shores in December, for a gig in Stroud on December 4.
He previously told how he came to create his 14th studio album.
The star said: “Some of the original songs are relatively new and some are many years old and only now getting a chance to be heard and sung.
“I like to think I curated this album as much as I created it.”
He added: “The process was organic and casual.
“I’d wake up in the morning, drink a cup of tea and choose a song to record – one of my own or one that I’d been thinking about and playing around the house.”
His vocal talents also came back under the spotlight in January when The Masked Singer fans were convinced he was Dressed Crab in the ITV series.
Eventually, the character was revealed to be Grammy Award winning singer Gregory Porter.
I liked not knowing where I was going until I got there. That improvisational, instinctual search has always been one of my favorite things about being a musician.”
