We are in for another superb card at Royal Ascot on Wednesday and there are plenty of competitive races for punters to get stuck into.
Our expert, Clive Gildon, has a trio of selections on the second day of Royal Ascot and fancies one at a decent price in the fiercely competitive Royal Hunt Cup.

15:05 Royal Ascot – Asmarani
Francis-Henri Graffard has proved himself a man to be feared with his Royal Ascot runners and Asmarani can be his latest winner in the Queen’s Vase.
Asmarani has looked a talented stayer in the making as his pedigree suggests he should be, being by Sottsass and out of a Sea The Stars mare.
He ran encouragingly with a view to this new trip suiting when coming from an unpromising position to finish well for second in a slowly run Prix Hocquart at Longchamp last time, form which was given a boost when the winner followed up in a Group 3 on the Prix de Diane card on Sunday.
Graffard won the Hocquart last season with the top-class Calandagan, who easily landed the King Edward VII at this meeting next time.
While Asmarani is clearly a different type of horse and doesn’t have the same turn of foot, he can only improve after making his debut just three months ago. There must be more to come.
17:00 Royal Ascot – Tokenomics
Interestingly, the three most fancied horses in the Royal Hunt Cup are drawn in the three highest stalls. Whether stands’ side is the place to be this season remains to be seen, but one from the high numbers has been overlooked and that is Tokenomics.
Trainer David Marnane won this with 16-1 shot Settle For Bay in 2018 and that horse didn’t shape as encouragingly on his Royal Ascot prep run as Tokenomics did last month.
Tokenomics looks just as progressive as Settle For Bay was heading into the meeting, having won four of his last six starts, and there was a lot to like about his Cork victory over 7f last time.
The overall time was strong and Tokenomics still managed to produce a fast-closing sectional when coming from near last to first, never stronger than at the finish.
He has winning form over 1m1f and will have no issues with Ascot’s stiff mile. This hold-up performer should be finishing to good effect among those on his side.
18:10 Royal Ascot – Utmost Respect
Richard Fahey knows the time of day in juvenile sprints and relies on Utmost Respect in the Windsor Castle. This horse looks more interesting than the early odds imply.
Utmost Respect was been beaten on his debut at York, but shaped like the best horse when pulling hard and finding in-running trouble by the rail before having to be switched around runners. He hit the line hard once getting out.
There may have been more hype surrounding the son of Invincible Spirit if he had a debut win next to his name, but he will have learned plenty from the York run and looks a useful prospect.
