‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’ Teases First Look at Season 2

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe has already teased its first look at Season 2. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe‘s Season 1 finale, “Spoiler: Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience,” brings the first installment of The Big Bang Theory‘s spin-off to a brilliant close. After a ten-week run, the show is now over, at least until the highly anticipated Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 2, which was announced in August 2026.

The ending of Stuart Season 1 sees the gang trapped in the “real world,” where they encounter their actors on a soundstage while filming Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. It’s meta, I know; The Big Bang Theory franchise has never broken the fourth wall quite like this before. However, if you’re watching carefully, you’ll notice that the show also seems to tease a new adventure for Season 2.

‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’s Season 1 Finale Hints at an Underwater Adventure and More for Season 2

Even though HBO and the show’s production team wouldn’t have known reviews of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe would be so strong that it’d be renewed while filming Season 1, it’s still great that “Spoiler: Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience” includes some details about what we might see in Season 2. While the gang flicks through the comic books based on their journey across the multiverse, Kyle shows them an edition in which they’re “underwater” and have “gills.”

Like the audience, Denise is confused by this, as they’ve never been anywhere underwater. But when Kyle points out that perhaps they haven’t been on this adventure yet, everything clicks into place. The show doesn’t give us a good look at the front of the comic book, but it looks very much like the gang is on the cover, in the same style as how we saw them at the end of “Spoiler: We’re as Confused as You Are.”

Perhaps we won’t see this adventure in Season 2; perhaps it’ll be Season 3 or even 4 (if the show is renewed again). Maybe we won’t see it on-screen at all. However, it’s logical to presume that Season 2 will feature an underwater episode, especially as it’d be strange for the show to tease it and then not follow through. It’s implied the underwater adventure is part of a future season, but there are other details in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe‘s finale worth noticing. At the end of the finale, when Stuart and the gang walk away into the night, the camera pans up to show us an aerial shot of the soundstages on Warner Bros.’ lot with posters on the outside of the buildings. Naturally, there’s a Stuart Fails to Save the Universe poster, but it’s the other two that are more interesting.

The first is an advertisement for Two and a Half Women, a play on Two and a Half Men. The models in the image aren’t the clearest, but at a glance, it looks like the woman with the glasses could be a replication of Missy Cooper in Young Sheldon‘s “A Black Hole,” which served as an example of the times throughout the franchise that hinted TBBT was part of a sci-fi multiverse. The other woman looks like she could be Kaley Cuoco’s Penny, and if this is the case, it’d be great to visit a universe where Penny achieved her dream of being a famous actress.

The second is Young Leonard. The mystery of whether Leonard is dead in TBBT universe is one many of us hoped this spin-off would answer. However, this poster could potentially be another hint to a future Stuart episode, rather than just a nod to the absent character.

While we don’t know how long we’ll be waiting for Season 2, it’s good that the show has seemingly given us a taste of what’s to come. TBBT franchise is always coming up with new ways to keep us guessing, and Stuart Fails to Save the Universe‘s Season 1 finale has done exactly that.
