Every Movie Coming to Hulu in July 2025

It’s officially summer, and vacation time is here. If you want to go to the beach, travel out of state, or spend the next several weeks at the theater, there’s no better time to do any of those things. But for all you indoor-oriented people, the streaming services are shaking up their catalogs once again, and this July will see countless great films enter the Hulu library. As such, whether you love raunchy rom-coms, true-life biopics, or contemplative science fiction, here are the best movies coming to Hulu in July 2025.

‘Bridesmaids’

Streaming on July 1

In a time when mainstream comedies seem to have almost entirely migrated to streaming services, it’s easy to forget how much of a cultural phenomenon Bridesmaids was back in 2011. In effortlessly blending the rom-com with the raunch-com, it served as a much-needed reminder that gross-out humor didn’t need to be exclusive to men. In addition to its phenomenal box office success, the film’s resonance even led to two Oscar nominations: for Original Screenplay and Supporting Actress for Melissa McCarthy’s breakout performance.

Like most Judd Apatow-produced films of the 2000s and 2010s, Bridesmaids proves surprisingly character-driven, centering on an unemployed single woman, Annie Walker (Kristin Wiig). She’s asked to serve as the maid of honor for her newly engaged best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph), all while reconciling with the lack of direction she feels in her own life. The result is a perfect balance between pathos and belly laughs (if only food poisoning were this funny in real life), and it’s one of the best comedies of the last couple of decades. Hulu subscribers can finally watch it on July 1.

‘Fruitvale Station’

Streaming on July 1

Over the last decade, Ryan Coogler has become one of our most exciting blockbuster filmmakers, and it’s easy to forget how small-scale and intimate his career started. His breakout feature, Fruitvale Station, stands as one of the most assured and confident directorial debuts of the 2010s, and a sadly relevant tearjerker. Based on a true story, the film explores the final day in the life of Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan, also his breakthrough), a 22-year-old Black man who a police officer fatally shot on New Year’s Day 2009.

‘Sinners’ Will Finally Take a Bite Out of Streaming After $362 Box Office Run as Max Premiere Date Revealed

This year’s hottest horror movie is set to sizzle on Max this summer.

What makes Fruitvale Station so powerful is the fact that Coogler and Jordan refuse to turn Grant into a martyr. He’s just been released from a 16-month sentence in prison, and is simply trying to get his life together while atoning for cheating on his ex-girlfriend and dealing drugs. The resulting tragedy hits all the harder because Grant’s flawed humanity has been so vividly realized, and we feel that a life has been wasted. If you want to see where Ryan Coogler’s career began, it will be available on Hulu on July 1.

‘The Abyss’

Streaming on July 4

It’s hard to name many tentpole filmmakers as visionary as James Cameron. Ever since breaking out in the ‘80s, he’s worked in three separate high-profile sci-fi franchises, pushed the boundaries of visual effects with seemingly every new release, and made the highest-grossing film of all time, twice. Yet, for as beloved as Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Titanic are, The Abyss remains surprisingly unsung, even as it arguably stands as every bit their equal.

The film centers around a team of civilian divers working to recover a lost nuclear submarine from the depths of the ocean, believing Soviet forces to be responsible for its sinking. However, their journey soon leads them to a mysterious race of aquatic aliens, who may or may not have benevolent intentions. Cameron delivers on the action as always, but The Abyss also stands as maybe his quietest and most contemplative work, often feeling more in line with 2001: A Space Odyssey than Avatar. The groundbreaking CGI still holds up remarkably well, as does the film as a whole, and Hulu subscribers will be able to watch it on July 4.

‘Memoir of a Snail’

Streaming on July 29

Ignore the cutesy title — Memoir of a Snail stands as one of the saddest animated films in recent memory, aimed at adults and capturing emotions that most live-action features miss the mark on. Directed by Adam Elliott of the similarly heartbreaking Mary and Max, the film tells the story of Grace Pudel (Sarah Snook of Succession), an emotionally reserved young woman, and the seemingly nonstop tribulations she faces while coming of age.

The Best Movies in Theaters Right Now

As we make our way through the seasons, these are some of the best movies currently playing in theaters.

On paper, Grace’s journey sounds like misery porn incarnate: she suffers emotional abuse from her foster parents, gets separated from her closeted younger brother, and struggles with a lifelong eating disorder. Yet, Elliott, who has stated that the film was loosely inspired by his own life, never loses sight of the rays of hope in the world. As Grace makes a hobby of hoarding snails to keep her company, she forms a close friendship with an older woman, Pinky (Jacki Weaver). Memoir of a Snail is an emotionally trying trip, but it’s nonetheless a testament to the power of the human spirit, and it arrives on Hulu on July 29.
