Rachel Sennott‘s long-awaited comedy series has both a title and a premiere date. In March 2024, the comedian and actress began developing a comedy series for HBO, which received an official greenlight in September 2024. Audiences got their first look at the series in the HBO 2025 preview, which was then labeled “Untitled Rachel Sennott Comedy.” Now, the network plans to release Sennott’s series to help close out the year.
HBO has confirmed that I Love LA will debut on HBO on Sunday, November 2, at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, and stream on HBO Max. The season will consist of eight episodes, concluding on December 21, 2025. I Love LA will follow “an ambitious friend group navigates life and love in LA,” according to the brief logline. HBO announced the project’s impending release with a slew of new images, including Sennott wearing a t-shirt with the series title and premiere date, which can be seen below.
Joining Sennot in I Love LA will be Jordan Firstman (Ms. Marvel), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Odessa A’zion (Marty Supreme), and True Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem). Season 1 guest stars will include the likes of Leighton Meester, Moses Ingram, Lauren Holt, Elijah Wood, Quenlin Blackwell, Josh Brener, Tim Baltz, Froy Gutierrez, and Colin Woodell. Sennott will serve as the series star, creator, and executive producer, and will direct some of the episodes alongside established names like Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers), Bill Benz (Twisted Metal), and Kevin Bray (Walking Tall).
‘I Love LA’ Is a Must-Watch for 2025
I Love LA is certainly set to become one of the most anticipated television shows of the 2025 season, as Rachel Sennott has quickly made a name for herself. After breaking out in the comedy scene, Sennott’s feature film breakout role came with 2021’s Shiva Baby. She followed that up with a string of memorable performances in acclaimed films like Bodies Bodies Bodies and Bottoms. In 2024, she showcased her dramatic talents in the highly underrated I Used to Be Funny, and played Rosie Shuster in the ensemble cast of Saturday Night.
The upcoming comedy series joins an exciting line-up of programming from HBO to close out 2025. Task, starring Mark Ruffalo and created by Mare of Easttown‘s Brad Ingelsby, debuts on September 7. That will then be followed up by It: Welcome to Derry, the prequel to the Stephen King classic novel, in October. Tim Robinson’s The Chair Company is also expected to air in 2025, which could make for a fun pairing with I Love LA as a laugh-out-loud Sunday combination. HBO is certainly keeping up with its original programming, offering a diverse array of original ideas and IPs, as well as mixing dramas and comedies.
