Friday horse racing tips
- ASCOT
2.55: Maneuver 10/11 (1pt)
3.30: Hvar 7/2 (1pt)
4.05: Brave Mission 11/2 each-way (1.5pts) - BANGOR
1.55: Intosomethinggood 13/8 (1pt)
3.40: Art Of Diplomacy 13/8 (1pt)
Maneuver
Oisin Murphy gets the mount on this promising John & Thady Gosden-trained filly, by Sea The Stars.
She placed behind Pacific Mission on her debut at Kempton last month and ought to do more here with that experience behind her.
The step up in trip is always encouraging for these types of horses who will thrive over further in time.
She is the clear favourite for a reason too, the next in the betting is an 8/1 shot who came 4th on debut.
Maneuver has an entry into the Fillies’ Mile so this is clearly a route race and should be dispatched as such.
Hvar
Ralph Beckett is well known for doing well with getting his crop of two-year-old horses ready for their debuts and first season in general.
With an 16% strike-rate this season on the turf it’s not been as strong as previous years but this still plenty of time left to grab a couple more winners.
Especially from those yet to be seen this season and appearing in the autumn end of the flat season.
Rossa Ryan gets the mount and there’s been some interest in this gelding in the betting, and Havana Grey two-year-olds can often dazzle on debut.
Brave Mission
Another tip for Ryan and Beckett at Ascot as this horse Brave Mission, by Frankel has yet to really show his best.
His two-year-old campaign was encouraging showing steady improvement before winning at Kempton.
He’s yet to win on turf but has gone close, including a close second here in May.
Just a week after his disappointing 5th when 7/2 favourite at Newmarket he was gelded and having been dropped 2lb by the handicapper suggests there should be more to come from this Frankel three-three-year-old.
Intosomethinggood
Comes up against a tough mare that could be better than showed so far, especially after a heavy fall at Uttoxeter in June.
But Intosomethinggood is seeing a lot of support now, the four-year-old gelding won twice at Worcester before going well in second behind Laravie at Market Rasen.
That was his first race beyond 2m and it warranted a rise in the weights from the handicapper too.
Both these horses beat, or would have beaten Mohawk Chief, who won in August to boost their form a little.
Laravie was the 4/9 favourite ahead of Intosomethinggood and rightfully so, winning to land the four-timer.
Now this horse can get back to winnings ways after keeping on for second last time out.
Art Of Diplomacy
Pull Again Green has been incredibly consistent at around this mark for the last two seasons.
His two wins back to back this summer show he’s regained that form after three races in a row where something was missing.
That said, Art Of Diplomacy has been in incredible form over fences, winning three on the bounce over 3m2f and aims for the four in a row after a 40-day break.
