Action movie superstar Donnie Yen proves once again why he is one of the best in the business in the gripping new trailer for this year’s thriller, The Prosecutor. While we await the Star Wars and Ip Man actor’s return as the blind assassin Caine in the upcoming John Wick spin-off, we can sit back and enjoy Yen as the titular prosecutor, who must find justice using his particular set of skills after uncovering a conspiracy.
Donnie Yen both stars in and directs The Prosecutor (which was previously titled Misjudgement) alongside filmmaker Ho-Pong Mak (Endless Battle). The rest of the cast includes Frances Ng (Infernal Affairs II), Kent Cheng (Ip Man 3), Julian Cheung (The Grandmaster, Modern Dynasty), and Adam Pak (A Guilty Conscience). The official synopsis for The Prosecutor teases a gripping legal thriller, which is reportedly based on a true case in Hong Kong.
“A poor young man is wrongly charged with drug trafficking after being deceived. An ex-prosecutor investigates the case, uncovers a corrupt lawyer team’s scheme, and restores justice despite obstruction from evil forces.”

Donnie Yen Is All Set To Lead His Own John Wick Spin-off
Donnie Yen has been a staple of Hong Kong martial arts and action movies for some time. Best known for roles in the likes of the Ip Man franchise, Iron Monkey, Hero, Blade 2, Once Upon a Time in China II, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and many, many more, Yen has seen a resurgence in his Hollywood career after stealing the show in the action movie masterpiece John Wick: Chapter 4. Yen is all set to reprise the role of Caine, a blind High Table assassin and former friend of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick, in a spin-off, with creator and director Chad Stahelski recently confirming that development on the project is now underway. He said to THR:
“We have three new things coming up: an anime feature, a TV show, a new spinoff [Donnie Yen’s Caine]. So Keanu and I are still very active on all that, and we didn’t want to get so big that we lost sight of what really makes John Wick, John Wick. So whether it’s the pinball machine or the anime feature film or the new TV show that we’re working on, at least it still comes through us.”
