Barclays has issued a statement about future bonus payments for customers. The update comes after the high street bank recently issued payments of £200 to certain customers.
The group offered a £200 payment if you switched your current account over to a Barclays Bank Account. This offer ended on May 28, as you need to get in your application by this date to be eligible.
Many banks have been rolling out similar switch incentives in recent months, in efforts to entice people to move over to them.
For example, Nationwide Building Society recently launched another £175 switch offer, at the same time as it announced another round of £100 payments for members through its Fairer Share scheme.
This raises the question of whether there could be another offer from Barclays over the months ahead. The bank was asked if it has any plans for another similar cash bonus scheme.
Barclays statement
A spokesperson said: “We regularly review our products and offers to make sure they meet the needs of our customers, and we’ll continue to assess opportunities in this space.” The provider was also asked what factors it considers when deciding whether to launch such a deal.
Barclays said in response: “We keep our propositions under constant review, listening closely to customer feedback and considering a range of factors to ensure we’re providing competitive and compelling options.”
The big name bank recently clarified its bank card rules after a question from a customer. The person contacted the group over social media as their debit card was expiring soon.

They wanted to know when their new card would likely arrive. Barclays said in response: “All debit cards are sent out 5 weeks before the current card expires. It can take up to 7 working days to arrive after it has been sent.”
The bank also told the customer they could send them a direct message about the issue. Barclays customers can view their bank cards in the Barclays app. You can do this by tapping on ‘Your cards’ on the home screen, just below your account balance.
