2 Men Stabbed in Back Near Times Square, NYPD Says

Two men were hospitalized after being stabbed in the back near Times Square in Manhattan early Thursday morning, authorities said.

Officers from the Midtown North Precinct were dispatched to the area just after 1:45 a.m. after receiving a report of an assault outside a 7-Eleven convenience store near the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 46th Street, a spokesperson for the New York City Police Department (NYPD) told NTD over the phone on Thursday.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 28-year-old male suffering multiple stab wounds to his back and a 31-year-old male with a single stab injury to his back.

Emergency medical personnel transported both men to Bellevue Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, the spokesperson said.

The identities of the victims have not been released. Officials said investigators believe they may have been attacked during an attempted robbery.

Two men were seen fleeing the scene on foot along West 46th Street. Multiple media outlets described one suspect as having dreadlocks and wearing a white tank top, while the other man was reported to be wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

The NYPD spokesperson said no arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation into the double stabbing remains ongoing. A similar stabbing incident occurred earlier this week near Times Square. Three men were injured in a knife attack just before 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday outside an Applebee’s restaurant on West 50th Street, officials told NTD.

Officers responded to the location after receiving a report of an assault and found a 24-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen and a slash to his leg.

A 26-year-old man was also found with lacerations to both of his hands and a leg, while a third victim, who has not been identified by authorities, sustained a slash to his leg. All three victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment in stable condition.

Authorities did not provide any details about a possible motive or what may have led up to the attack. However, the NYPD spokesperson said a 24-year-old suspect, identified as Breshan Bennett of the Bronx, was taken into custody in the area just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

Bennett has been charged with two counts of assault, two counts of menacing, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
