A UK construction company has plunged into administration after over 60 years of business with all jobs at risk. The family-run firm, which was founded in 1964, specialises in scaffolding and employs over 100 staff with assets worth £7.6 million.
Blencowe Scaffolding Ltd, established by Pat Blencowe, operates from a head office in Salisbury and has two depots in Basingstoke and Eastleigh. It serves a 60-mile radius around each site, including Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Sussex. However, the company has now appointed Julie Anne Palmer and Andrew Hook, of BTG Begbies Traynor, as administrators on August 12 after collapsing.
According to its latest accounts, Blencowe Scaffolding employed over 100 staff and had plant and equipment assets worth £7.6m. All of these staff are now at risk of losing their jobs after the company fell into administration.
After being founded 62 years ago, Blencowe expanded into a specialist scaffolding company in 2014. It then served commercial and domestic clients across the UK and even overseas.
Its website states: “Blencowe Scaffolding provide scaffolding solutions for many major contractors, handling small to large projects in a range of sectors such as industrial works, refurbishment, new-build, decorating, roofing, retail development and much more.”
It adds: “We have a large portfolio of residential work and a reputation for providing a professional, safe and speedy service. We provide domestic scaffolding for re-roofing, guttering and fascias, chimney stacks, loft conversions and extensions, decorating and refurbishment, solar panel installation and much more.
“Preserving the past to secure the future. We retain a committed team of professionals to work on specialist projects, who have built up extensive experience and knowledge of heritage and listed projects.”
The head office in Salisbury employs a team of senior directors and estimating staff. The company also employs local scaffolders and other office staff at other sites.
It says on its website: “We operate within a 60 miles radius from each of our depots in Salisbury, Basingstoke and Eastleigh.”
