Major fashion brand ramps up UK expansion – 4 new stores confirmed

A major high street fashion brand has announced its plans to open four more UK stores, with one launching next month. Uniqlo already has 24 stores across the UK, located in major cities like London, Bristol and Birmingham. The fashion brand originates in Japan and first opened in the UK in 2001. Uniqlo has proven popular amongst UK shoppers for its high-quality, everyday casual clothing and accessories.

It has been confirmed that it will open a brand-new 9,472 sq ft store at the Grand Arcade on St Andrew’s Street in Cambridge on September 24, 2026. The new store will be across two floors. It is set to stock Uniqlo’s womenswear and menswear LifeWear ranges alongside its autumn/winter 2026 collection, which includes cashmere, Soufflé Yarn knitwear and Puffertech outerwear. To celebrate the grand opening, the first 300 customers spending more than £69.90 on the day will receive goodie bags.

“We have been looking forward to opening here and becoming part of the community,” said Uniqlo UK chief operating officer Alessandro Dudech. He said that Cambridge’s mix of students, academics, residents and international visitors made it a desirable location to open a new store.

On opening day, shoppers who scan the Uniqlo app at checkout will be entered into a draw to win a trip to Tokyo. There will also be traditional Japanese Taiko drumming performances throughout the day.

Uniqlo is also gearing up to open a new store in Manchester’s Trafford Centre this autumn, making it the first UK city outside of London to have two Uniqlo stores. The new Manchester location will span 24,000sq ft and will join its existing Market Street shop.

Uniqlo also has plans to open stores in London’s Canary Wharf and Leeds’ Briggate in 2027. Stuart Fyfe, managing director of retail, leisure and hospitality at Canary Wharf Group, said that they are “absolutely delighted to welcome UNIQLO to Canary Wharf” as it has built up a strong reputation amongst shoppers.

The brand recently opened its new and improved Covent Garden store earlier this year in London, after a 30% size expansion to 18,300 sq ft

Uniqlo’s parent company, Fast Retailing, last month increased its full-year operating profit forecast to Â¥730bn (£3.37bn) after third-quarter operating profit jumped 45.7% to Â¥213.8bn (£986.26m).
