Prince Harry has been warned that his latest media crusade is actively destroying any hope of a royal reconciliation. The Duke of Sussex sparked a fresh wave of fury after he appeared in a new interview with GQ to promote his MasterClass project, claiming he wants peace with the Royal Family but others “don’t want it to work out.”
Branding the explosive interview yet another “self-inflicted wound,” PR expert Eric Schiffer blasted the Duke, warning that broadcasting family drama to a magazine is the absolute “last thing you do” to heal a rift. Speaking to Newsweek, Mr Schiffer spoke about Harry’s actions, saying: “Make a selection—do you want a relationship with your father and your brother, or do you want to try to stop the bleed out of reputational challenges, because you can’t have both, and if he’s going to focus on his reputation, then he has to keep his mouth shut with his family, don’t talk about it, don’t comment.”
In the interview, Harry was asked if he grieves his “complicated” relationship with his father and brother. The Duke of Sussex said: “Yeah, yes, of course, from a family perspective, again another massively relatable issue for so many people. There’s sibling disagreements, there’s broken relationships between, you know, kids and their parents, kids and one parent.” He added: “And some people don’t want it to work out – I want it to work out.”
Responding to speculation that Harry was implying that his brother and father don’t want things to “work out” between them, the Duke’s spokesperson replied: “It was absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family. The comment was made in a general context and was not directed at his family in any way.”
