Trains disrupted between major UK airport and city after ’emergency incident’ | UK | News

Significant disruption has hit the railway network this evening (November 4) following an emergency incident at a station. TransPennine Express confirmed the incident at 10pm, posting on X that emergency services were ‘dealing with an incident’ on the tracks between Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly stations.

Services are presently unable to operate between two stations in either direction, with disruption anticipated until 12.45am on Thursday morning, the operator said.

The circumstances of the incident, thought to be around Mauldeth Road station, remain unclear, reports the Manchester Evening News. Passengers may use their tickets at no additional charge on Metrolink services between Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly in either direction.

A complimentary Bee Network service is also operating every ten minutes between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria.

Furthermore, passengers may use their tickets at no additional charge on TransPennine Express or Northern services from Manchester Piccadilly/Manchester Victoria towards your destination, and on Avanti West Coast services between Preston and Glasgow Central/Edinburgh.
