The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s UK return could create a “nightmare” for Buckingham Palace, a royal expert has warned. The couple, along with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, flew back to the country last week from California.
Harry and Meghan have spent six years living in the US but are now expected to settle in Britain for an “extended period”, with Archie and Lilibet enrolled in British schools. The Sussexes remain as non-working royals since stepping down six years ago to move stateside. Since then, they have pursued several other opportunities, such as a deal with Netflix.
Experts have warned Meghan’s commercial opportunities could create tension with the Palace.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams also warned that the Sussexes’ busy schedule could even “overshadow” Royal Family public duties.
He told Fox News Digital: “The nightmare for the Palace is that they can’t be controlled.
“Diary clashes will probably mean royal engagements are overshadowed by what the Sussexes choose to do and what they are, or are not, asked to by the Palace.”
There are understood to be no current plans for Harry or Meghan to resume as working Royals.
