The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has shared a never-before-seen video of her and Prince Harry in the labour room in honour of her daughter’s fourth birthday. In the throwback video, a nine-months pregnant Meghan is seen dancing and twerking to music in the maternity suite. She also released black-and-white photographs on Instagram to mark Lilibet’s birthday. Meghan added the caption to the footage, “Both of our children were a week past their due dates. So when spicy food, all that walking and acupuncture didn’t work — there was only one thing left to do”. The video has received a mixed reaction online, with Piers Morgan’s wife wading in on the conversation.
Celia Walden appeared on ITV’s Lorraine to discuss Meghan’s post and labelled her “desperate” in a scathing attack. Speaking to host Ranvir Singh and Reverend Richard Coles, she wasn’t impressed by the former Suits actress.
She said, “I think we’re going to see more and more stuff offered up for public consumption. As she gets a bit more desperate to make people like her.”
Ranvir interrupted, “Is that what you think it is, rather than that they’re in that generation of oversharing is a thing everybody does anyway?”
Celia replied, “That is true, but I do feel with her, very, very little is not premeditated, I have to say. I’m not sure how much he has to do with the decision-making. I could be being very unfair, perhaps he’s fully in charge in that relationship.”
Reverend Richard explained that the pair have to fund their lifestyles and added, “The opportunities for earning that kind of money you’d need to keep that show on the road are few, and the pressure then is on if you’re going to feed the beast, what’s the next tip that you throw?”
Celia said, “There’s no judgment, but you can’t have both.” Meanwhile, Ranvir defended the video and said, “I kind of love it because I think it’s really funny and warm. It’s impressive, isn’t it? She’s a great dancer – not too sure about Harry.”
Lorraine airs at 9am on ITV and ITVX on weekdays.
