When it comes to winter dressing, Princess Catherine knows a thing or two about looking effortlessly chic, and one of her favourite high-street wardrobe staples is back after selling out last year. The royal has been spotted wearing the gorgeous Lara Merino Wool Rollneck Jumper from British fashion favourite Hobbs on repeat, proving that even royalty appreciates a fabulous £79 find.
Catherine owns the timeless knit in both classic navy and vibrant pink, repeatedly turning to its flattering silhouette for everything from royal engagements to sophisticated daytime outings. And with temperatures dropping, I’ve spotted that the much-loved design has returned in a selection of gorgeous new-season shades, including Deep Water Blue, Warm Plum, Vicuna Marl and classic black. Personally, I’m particularly taken with the rich blue colourway, which feels wonderfully expensive and is remarkably similar to the navy style Catherine has championed over the years.
The jumper is crafted from 100% merino wool, making it a beautifully soft, breathable and cosy addition to your winter wardrobe without the designer price tag. Its slim-fitting silhouette, elegant roll neck, ribbed trims and delicate button detailing on the cuffs give this otherwise simple staple a seriously sophisticated finish.
But what makes this gorgeous little number such a wardrobe winner is its versatility, as the fine knit sits beautifully beneath tailored coats, blazers and jackets without adding any unwanted bulk. Better still, it’s machine washable, meaning you won’t have to worry about expensive dry-cleaning bills every time you wear it.
The design comes in sizes XS to XL, equivalent to UK sizes 6 to 22, although I’d recommend snapping up your preferred colour and size sooner rather than later, particularly after last year’s sell-out.
I’d take a leaf straight out of Catherine’s style book and pair the blue jumper with tailored navy trousers, a beautiful longline coat and elegant court shoes for an effortlessly expensive-looking ensemble.
While £79 might be a little more than your average high-street knit, I think the premium merino wool composition and timeless design make it a worthwhile investment you’ll reach for year after year. After all, if a wardrobe staple is good enough for Catherine to wear repeatedly, it’s certainly worth considering for our own winter collections.
