Tom Holland Knows When We’ll See a Live-Action Miles Morales in the MCU

Only two weeks after starring in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Tom Holland is back on the big screen again for his fourth MCU solo film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Working with director Destin Daniel Cretton (Wonder Man), Holland returns to his role as Peter Parker in a world that does not know Peter Parker exists, trying to keep those he cares about safe while dealing with new street-level villains and a threat unlike anything he has ever seen. This comes 10 years after he made his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War, and his run appears nowhere close to ending.

Brand New Day already has a chance to be this year’s biggest hit to date, as it reportedly broke box office records previously held by 2019’s Avengers: Endgame for the best Thursday night previews and Friday openings. Even without numbers for Saturday or Sunday, it already has the biggest domestic opening weekend of the year, and it could challenge Endgame for the biggest opening in cinema history. This all comes as fans wonder when Holland’s Peter Parker will be joined in the MCU by another wildly successful hero, Miles Morales, who has yet to make his live-action debut. Now, Holland seems to have insight into when that could come to fruition.

Speaking with 1Live, Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Tom Holland addressed what he knows about Miles Morales’ debut in the MCU. Asked what he would ask as a Spider-Man fan if he were in the interviewer’s chair, Holland brought up the question of when Miles will be introduced into the MCU. He continued to note that he knows the answer to that question but would not elaborate further:

Holland: “Whoa, ok, ok, what would be the first question? I guess it would be, ‘When will we get Miles Morales?’ would be the question I would ask, because I know the answer.”

1Live: “And it is?”

Zendaya: “I can’t tell you!”

Holland: “I’m asking the questions, not answering them!”

Miles Morales’ introduction into the MCU has been a hot topic for years, especially after Sony’s first two animated Spider-Verse movies became massive hits behind Shameik Moore. Throw in his time in Insomniac’s trio of hugely successful Spider-Man video games on the PlayStation, and it seems to be only a matter of time before the Afro-Latino hero swings into action alongside Peter Parker. The MCU has even offered a couple of nods to his existence already, thanks to a comment from Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis (Miles’ uncle) in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and Jamie Foxx’s Electro mentioning a “Black Spider-Man” in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Holland recently spoke about possibly passing the baton of playing Spider-Man to a new star, whether that be a new actor playing Peter Parker or introducing Miles into the equation. As of writing, there are no definitive plans for when this could happen or whether Miles could make his MCU debut in a future Spider-Man solo movie. Also in the cards is a possible intro in one of the next two Avengers movies, as Miles had a major role in Jonathan Hickman’s 2015 Secret Wars run from Marvel Comics. While Holland did not offer any specifics on how this new web-slinger would come into play, anticipation is already building to see these two eventually team up.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theaters worldwide.
