A woman in her 60s died Monday evening after suffering from a medical issue while riding Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion attraction in Anaheim, California.
The Anaheim Police Department reported the incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. at the Anaheim theme park. Police said in a statement to NTD News that Anaheim Fire and Rescue responded to the Disneyland Resort for an unresponsive woman who had just finished riding the popular dark ride attraction.
Park security staff administered CPR to the woman until medics arrived. Paramedics took her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
“This appears to be an unfortunate medical episode, and our thoughts go out to the family,” police said. “Out of respect for the family, no further details will be released.”
The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner will determine the official cause of death.
Disney representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the incident.
Epic Universe Tragedy
The fatality comes a month after an accident occurred at Universal Orlando Resort’s newest theme park, Epic Universe, where a man in his 30s died from blunt impact while riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster.
Orange County medical examiner Joshua Stephany ruled that the Sept. 17 death was accidental following an autopsy, though he provided no additional details about the specific nature of the injuries or their location on the victim’s body.
The Stardust Racers attraction markets itself as “a breathtaking, dual-launch coaster reaching incredible speeds up to 62 mph,” according to Universal’s website.
Epic Universe opened to the public in May, and since then, three incidents have been reported to the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. These included guests experiencing dizziness, visual disturbances, numbness, and chest pains after riding different attractions.
