Qatar Airways Celebrates Major Anniversaries In Delhi And Kolkata With New Business Class Menu

It is a source of great pride that two of the key milestone anniversaries of Qatar Airways this year coincides with its commitment to the Indian market. The airline marks 20 years of service in Delhi, an important route for the airline, with celebrations to begin from 14th July 2025. It is also commemorating 30 years of flying to Kolkata. The annivesary celebrations have been scheduled on 31st October 2025 for the latter. The achievements are indicative of the carrier’s robust relationship with India, one of its most important markets in South Asia which is both strategically and culturally significant

Mumbai was the first gateway when the airline launched its service in India in 1994. The airline has since expanded its operations and currently serves 13 cities in India, beginning with Kolkata in 1995 and then on to Delhi a decade later in 2005. At present, the airline currently operates 100 weekly flights from India to key destinations around the world, including 14 flights a week from Delhi and 7 flights a week from Kolkata, so that customers can experience the best on-board facilities and services, while travelling to top international destinations.

A Strong Commitment to India

Qatar Airways is also working towards ensuring a strong foothold in India with sustained aggressive expansion plans in both business and leisure segments with its 76 weekly flights operations across the country, offering quick and convenient connections for their passengers. Qatar Airways carried more than 2.4 million passengers to and from India in 2024-25 financial year alone. The airline took active part in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, by ensuring that it was flying and safely flying over 1.8 Million passengers in & out of India between April 2020 till March 2022 as part of the repatriation missions throughout the world.

The airlines’s Cargo, in addition to having entrusted passenger services, also acts as a lynchpin in India’s economy. It makes considerable contribution to India’s lucrative import-exports trade. With a combined weekly cargo capacity of 2,990 tonnes in and out of India, the carrier is now running to a weight of more than 120 flights weekly, including with 20 flights operated by Boeing 777 freighter aircrafts, helping supporting and sustaining critical supply chain amidst India’s economy.

Qatar Airways vice president of sales for Middle East, Caucasus, Pakistan and Indian subcontinent Mr. Karthik Viswanathan said he was excited and proud to have these two major occasions in India. Right from when the airlines first took to the skies in 1994, it developed strong and lasting ties to its Indian passengers, partners and local communities, he said. He also expressed that the foundation of relationships are based on service, excellence, and trust as well a vision of global connectivity. India would remain a core component of its global network, and that they looked forward to it.

These anniversaries not only mark the airline’s strong bond with India but also reiterate its stronghold in the worldwide aviation business. A Journey into Indian Culinary Heritage with Chef Garima Arora

Qatar Airways is marking these milestones by partnering with celebrity chef Garima Arora. Chef Arora, the first Indian woman to head a Michelin-starred restaurant, will create an exclusive business class menu for Qatar Airways. Due to launch in September 2025, the new menu showcases India’s diverse regional cuisines with a selection of signature appetisers, mains and desserts created to enrich the inflight dining experience of Qatar Airways’ business class customers.

Mr. Viswanathan spoke very positively on the collaboration, and said that he was pleased to celebrate India’s culinary heritage with the partnership with Chef Garima. He said that he was confident and felt that the unique menu would appeal to passengers and their gourmet dining experience would also be an opportunity to exhibit India’s rich and diverse culinary heritage on the global stage.”

History of Aviation Excellence

Qatar Airways is renowned in the aviation industry as being at the forefront of service excellence winning multiple awards. In addition to winning the World’s Best Airline award a ninth time in 2025, the airline was also awarded the ‘World’s Best Business Class’ for the 12th time. The streak of winning doesn’t end there.
