Australia appeared to be heading to a crucial second Test win to keep the series alive, as they led 26-24 in the final minutes.
But Hugo Keenan scored a try with only seconds left to secure a win for the Lions in dramatic fashion.
Wallabies star Harry Wilson then ran straight up to the referee after the try, appealing for a potential issue in the build-up.
It led to the try being checked by TMO, as they looked at a potential high tackle from Lions’ Jac Morgan.
However, the try was viewed to be all good and the Lions secured their first series win since 2013.
The game was played in front of a monster crowd at MCG, with over 90,000 fans in attendance.
That is the most ever in the stands for a Lions game – and they witnessed another piece of history.
Andy Farrell’s men were 18 points down at one point in the first half, making it the Lions’ biggest ever comeback.
Australian legend David Campese told talkSPORT: “The Lions showed a lot of heart tonight.
“They wanted it more than the Aussies and it was a fantastic game in front of 90,000 people at the MCG.”

On the winning try, Campese added: “He went in with his arms, and that’s all you have to do. For me, it was legit. It looked alright. That was a perfectly good clean out.
“The Lions played well, they deserved it. The Australians lost a bit of spark.”
Keenan crossed the tryline right at the death to send the Lions into rapturous celebrations, with Australia left stunned.Â
The Wallabies gained some hope as the try was reviewed, leaving both teams waiting tensely for a decision to be made.Â
But it was ruled there was no foul play from Morgan, meaning the Lions won the first two Tests of a series for the first time since 1997.
The Lions had lost their last two series in New Zealand in 2017 and South Africa in 2021, but they’re victorious this time around.
Speaking after the historic win, Lions head coach Farrell told Sky Sports: “I was screaming pass it, pass it.
“After what he [Keenan] has been through, it was all worth it. To score at the death of a Lions Test.
“These players have dreamed of playing for the Lions. It was a fairytale. We want to win every game but we will take a breath after that one.”
Captain and Man of the Match, Maro Itoje, then said: “Big Faz [Andy Farrell] was telling us to play big and be bigger all the time and believe in ourselves.
“I give credit to the bench, they came on and made the difference.
“It’s amazing as I always say it’s not about me, it’s about all those on the pitch and those 90,000 Lions fans in the stands. It’s a joy.”
The Lions’ win came after James Slipper, Jake Gordon and Tom Wright all scored in a fast opening 40 minutes from Australia.
Dan Sheehan, Tom Curry and Huw Jones then replied, cutting the Wallabies’ lead down before the break.
Tom Lynagh would then put his country 26-17 in front heading into the final stages, but a Tadhg Beirne try closed the gap again.
And it was Keenan who sealed the incredible victory with the last action of the game for the Lions.
